Dengie First Responders
The First Responders are part of a National organisation where
volunteers receive training by the Ambulance Service to provide
emergency cover for life threatening situations such as heart attacks in
their area until the ambulance crew can arrive.
Training is given in basic life support, resuscitation, administering
oxygen and using a defibrillator.
Since their formation the First Responders have been credited with
saving many lives in this area.
This task is especially important in rural areas where an ambulance will
often take more than the guideline times to arrive which enables
ambulance control to stabilise the situation with a first responder.
The Dengie First Responders are split into three administrative groups.
Burnham on Crouch / Southminster,
Mayland / Maylandsea,
St Lawrence / Tillingham,
